Karlee Spicer, Immaculata Chapter Member, Class of 2028
I joined Cogwell because my roommate knew about the club and encouraged me to attend a meeting with her. She had a connection with the professor who ran the club and always spoke highly of her, describing her as approachable, supportive, and passionate about helping students. Hearing my roommate's positive experiences made me curious about the organization. I had also heard good things about the welcoming atmosphere and the strong sense of community among the members. I was looking for ways to become more involved on campus, and joining seemed like a great opportunity I couldn't pass up. Looking back, I can confidently say that I got what I was looking for from my experiences in CogWell so far. When I first joined, one of my main goals was to become more active in campus life and connect with people outside my usual social circle. CogWell provided the perfect environment for that. From the beginning, everyone was friendly and welcoming, which made it easy to feel comfortable and included. The club created a space where students could support each other, share experiences, and build meaningful connections.
Being a part of CogWell helped me branch out and become more open to meeting new people. Through meetings, events, and conversations with other members, I gained confidence in interacting with others and developed friendships that I might not have made otherwise. The positive and encouraging environment made a lasting impact on my college experience. Beyond simply giving me something more to do on campus, CogWell helped me feel more connected to the university community as a whole.
Overall, joining CogWell was a very positive experience. It allowed me to get involved, meet great people, and grow personally. The supportive community and welcoming atmosphere made it one of the most rewarding organizations I participated in during my time on campus so far.
