Karlee Spicer, Immaculata Chapter Member, Class of 2028

One of my favorite memories from my CogWell chapter is our end-of-year painting event. Every year, it is something I look forward to because it allows everyone to relax, be creative, and spend quality time together before the year comes to an end. Even though the activity itself is simple sometimes, it has become one of the most meaningful traditions in our chapter because of the atmosphere it creates. Instead of focusing on schoolwork or the stress of daily responsibilities, we get to slow down and enjoy each other's company.

What I love most about the painting event is the conversations that naturally happen while we paint. Everyone is gathered around the table, laughing, sharing stories, reflecting on the past year, and getting to know one another better. It always feels like a space where everyone can be themselves, regardless of how long they have been in the chapter. Whether we are talking about classes, plans, funny memories, or simply joking around, the conversations make the experience unforgettable. By the end of the event, my face usually hurts from smiling and laughing so much.

This tradition has had a lasting impact on me because it reminds me that CogWell is about more than meetings or organized activities. It is about building genuine friendships, creating a welcoming community, and supporting one another. The painting itself becomes a keepsake that reminds me of the memories we made together, but the real value comes from the time spent connecting with others. Every year, I leave feeling grateful for the friendships that CogWell has given me. The end-of-year painting event perfectly represents the supportive, joyful, and inclusive environment that makes my CogWell chapter such an important part of my college experience, and it is a memory I will always treasure.
