Prioritizing my own mental health is something I try to practice every day. I have learned that I cannot effectively support others unless I am also taking care of myself. One of the main ways I prioritize my mental health is by making time for exercise and treating it as an important part of my daily routine. I also try to recognize what I need to do to recharge, whether that means eating a healthy meal, watching television, reading a book, completing work so that I feel less stressed, or simply giving myself time to relax.

Balancing self-care while being there for friends and peers has taught me that supporting others does not mean ignoring my own needs. I naturally want to be someone others can rely on, but I have realized that constantly overextending myself can leave me feeling emotionally and physically drained. When that happens, I remind myself that I cannot solve every problem or always be available. Setting boundaries and taking time for myself does not make me less supportive. Instead, it allows me to be more present, patient, and helpful when someone truly needs me. I have learned that maintaining my own well-being is what makes it possible for me to support others in a healthy and sustainable way
